About us 

Simply from Scratch is owned and operated by Suzanne Flanders and her daughter-in-law, Lauren Flanders. 

Their story began when Suzanne tried non-homogenized milk at a family friend's dinner in Shipshewana, Indiana. Despite her usual hesitation around drinking milk, that experience sparked a curiosity about food, farming, and the difference local products could make. Before long, the duo was sharing milk with others. Customers began asking for eggs, bread, honey, and other locally produced staples, and Simply from Scratch began to grow. Today, what started with milk has become a grocery-on-wheels experience, bringing together the products of Indiana farmers and food makers with the people who want to support them.

We believe everyone deserves access to good food and the opportunity to understand where it comes from.

That means more than stocking shelves. We're working to increase access to local food in communities with limited grocery options, help customers become confident consumers, and create meaningful connections between the people who grow our food and the people who enjoy it.​ We believe that when people understand their food, they can make informed choices that benefit their families, their communities, and the farmers who feed us.

We're proud to be a farming family, a small business, and advocates for Indiana agriculture. Every local product we share is another opportunity to support a farmer, strengthen our food community, and keep more of our food dollars close to home.
